Breathing in Confinement – The comprehensive report of death penalty in Iran during the first term of Hassan Rouhani’s presidency has been published.

The center of statistics of Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran (PRLI), had published the Persian version of this report on December 10, 2017, the International Human Rights Day.

Today the English and German versions of the report are being published. A summary of this report which covers death penalty statistics in Iran from August 3, 2013 to August 3, 2017 was already available.

This report includes the total number of executions as well as the percentage of official media coverage of them in this period of time.

Public executions, execution of juvenile offenders and women are the other chapters in this report.

Executing political prisoners as a tool of repression and some examples of such cases is another chapter of this report.

With publishing this report, the PRLI is trying to shed light on an important part of human rights violations in Iran and raise the public awareness about the situation of human rights in the country.
