Breathing in Confinement – Latif Hasani ended his hunger strike after 52 days as he got one of his demands.

According to the report of “Breathing in Confinement”, Latif Hasani, the imprisoned member of “Yani Gamouh” who went on hunger strike since 18th April in protest at violation of the principal of separating prisoners on the basis of kind of crimes and political prisoners’ right of being transferred to their home city.

Finally, on 1st of July, he was transferred to ward 10 of Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, and then he continued his hunger strike with demand of being transferred to political prisoners’ ward.

Yesterday afternoon, 6thJuly, he passed out and was taken to prison’s medical centre and for couple of hours he was kept in the clinic. Following this circumstance and as one of his demands was accepted by the judicial authorities, also, Ayat Mehr Ali Beiglu, another imprisoned member of “Yeni Gamoh”, and his family and other civil and political activists requested, he ended his hunger strike.

Latif Hasani, lost 20kg of his weight and according to his wife he was barely able to speak in recent days.

Amnesty international in an Urgent Action statement on 4th of July called for immediate and unconditional release for Latif Hasani.

Latif Hasani was sentenced by Tabriz Revolutionary Court to 9 years imprisonment with accusation of establishing an illegal group and propaganda against Regime.
