Breathing in Confinement – Latif Hassani, political prisoner in Rajai Shahr prison, in Karaj, has been sent on a 3-day-leave.

According to the report of “Breathing Confinement”, on 21st June, this Azerbaijani political prisoner was sent on 3 days leave from Hall 12 of Rajai Shahr prison, in Karaj.

The political prisoner was on hunger strike, from 18th May 2014, for 52 days, demanding his transfer to the prison in his hometown, Karaj, and therefore suffers from numerous health problems.

He has a medical history of open heart surgery, before his detention.

Amnesty International in an urgent action statement, on 4th July 2014, expressed concern about this political prisoner’s situation and urged for his immediate and unconditional release.

It is worth mentioning, he was sentenced to 9 years imprisonment by Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court in Tabriz, on charges of forming an illegal group and propaganda against the regime.
