2 Kurdish Political Prisoners Executed in Iran

Breathing in Confinement – Ali and Habib Afshari, Kurdish political prisoners were executed in the prison of Orumieh.

According to the report of “Breathing in Confinement”, on Thursday 20th February, the execution sentences of the 2 brothers were implemented.

A member of these political prisoners’ family in a conversation with “Breathing in Confinement’s” reporter confirmed this news however he had no information about where the executions were carried out.

Habib Afshari was born in 1988 and his elder brother, Ali Afshari, was born in 1980. They were from Gogjelo Habibleh village, near Mahabad. They were arrested in 2011 by the security forces and in January 2012 were sentenced to death on charge of combat against God, through propaganda and membership in a Kurdish opposition party, by the Revolutionary Court in Mahabad.

The sentences were literally confirmed by the Supreme Court in 2012.

These 2 political prisoners had attended the hunger strike by political prisoners of ward 12 in Central Prison of Orumieh on 20th November 2014 that lasted 32 days and they were threatened to death by the prison authorities.

That is to say, there is still no information about Saman Naseem, Sirvan Najavi, Ebrahim Shapouri and Younes Aghayan, other political prisoners, sentenced to death who have been taken at the same time from Central Prison of Orumieh to a unknown place.

Prisoners
