At Least 5 Prisoners Hanged in Rasht

Breathing in Confinement – Various sources have reported the execution of at least five prisoners in Lakan prison of Rasht.

According to the report of “Breathing in Confinement”; at least five prisoners of drug related crimes were hanged in Lakan prison of Rasht. Rashid Koohi was one of those people. Amnesty International had urged for the immediate repeal of his execution decree.

According to Amnesty International’s announcement, this prisoner was deprived of the right of a retrial and his family’s efforts for reconsidering his case also faced with the indifference by the officials.

Rashid Koohi was sentenced to death on charges of carrying 800g Crystal Meth.

On the other hand, Chief of Justice department in Gilan Province in an interview with IRIB has stated: “A 34-year-old man from Meshkinshar on charges of carrying a kilo and 500 grams of heroin, a 44-year-old man, born in Tehran, on charge of carrying 800 grams of the Crystal Meth, Synthetic drug, and a 28-year-old man, a native of Lahijan on charge of carrying three kilograms and 960 grams of the Crystal Meth were executed in Lakan prison of Rasht.”

Human Rights in Iran, also has announced that 5 prisoners were executed and 2 of them were identified Seyed Javad Mirzadeh and Hossein Farhadi.

It is to say that the identity of two other prisoners have not been reported yet.
