Breaking News: Shahrokh Zamani Died In Rajai Shahr Prison

Breathing in Confinement – Shahrokh Zamani, an imprisoned labor activist in Rajai Shahr Prison, in Karaj, died an hour ago.

According to the reports of “Breathing in Confinement”, this member of the union of painters and construction workers of Alborz province, and committee to follow up the establishment of independent trade unions who was held in Hall 12, ward 4 of Rajai Shahr Prison, died suddenly at 5 pm today.

An informed source in an interview with “Breathing in Confinement” said: “Shahrokh Zamani, seemed healthy this morning, after lunch when he was asleep, he died. Prisoners transferred him to the prison clinic while his whole body was bruised and black, but the prison clinic has not announced the definitive cause of his death, yet.”

Shahrokh Zamani died in prison while the prison authorities had prevented him from being transferred to medical centers for MRI tests.

This political prisoner had been suffering from short time oblivion and chronic headaches for about last 2 years.

This labor activist was arrested by security forces in Tabriz on 8th June 2011, and was released temporarily on a bail of 200 million tomans, on 19th October.

Shahrokh Zamani was sentenced to 11 years imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court, and in December 2011, was detained along with other labor activist, Mohammad Jarahi, to endure his imprisonment sentence.

He had been transferred from Tabriz Central Prison to Rajai Shahr Prison, on 17th October, 2013 without a court order.
