Breathing in Confinement – On the morning of Saturday, 5 April 2025, the death sentence of at least one prisoner, convicted of murder, was carried out in Ahvaz Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, one prisoner was executed at Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz early on Saturday, 5 April 2025. The identity of the prisoner has been confirmed as Zohair Shamsi.

According to the report by Breathing in Confinement, Zohair Shamsi, a married labourer from Dezful, was arrested four years ago on charges of murdering his cousin and was sentenced to death. The execution was carried out at dawn on Saturday, 5 April 2025, in Sepidar Prison, Ahvaz.
