Breathing in Confinement – At dawn on Wednesday, 9 April 2025, the death sentence of at least one prisoner convicted of drug-related charges was carried out in Shahroud Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the prisoner executed was identified as Gholamreza Pardakhteh (Gorgij).

Breathing in Confinement reports that Gholamreza Pardakhteh, a married man from Azadshahr, had been arrested seven years ago on charges related to drug offences and subsequently sentenced to death. The execution was carried out at dawn today, Wednesday, 9 April 2025, in Fadak Prison, Shahroud.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
