Prisoner Transferred to Solitary Confinement in Sari Prison for Execution

Breathing in Confinement – At least one prisoner sentenced to death for “murder” has been transferred to solitary confinement in Sari Prison in preparation for the execution.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Monday, 28 July 2025, a prisoner was transferred to solitary confinement in Tirkelā Prison in Sari to await execution. The prisoner has been identified by Breathing in Confinement as Mohammad Shabestān.

Mohammad Shabestān had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on charges of “murder”. His transfer to solitary confinement is considered an indication that his execution may be imminent. Nonetheless, efforts to obtain consent from the victim’s family are reportedly ongoing.
