Execution of Two Prisoners in Shiraz Prison

Breathing in Confinement, Sunday, 2 August 2026: The death sentences of at least two prisoners who had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on drug-related charges were carried out in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz.

According to reporters for Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, two prisoners were hanged at dawn on Saturday, 1 August, in Shiraz Prison. Their identities have been confirmed as Farzad Feyzi and Hassan Mousavi.

According to the report, Farzad Feyzi, a 40-year-old from Babol, had been arrested two years ago, while Hassan Mousavi, a 30-year-old from Jolfa, had been arrested three years ago in separate cases on drug-related charges. Both had subsequently been sentenced to death. Their executions were carried out at dawn on Saturday, 1 August 2026, in Shiraz Prison.

According to the human rights organisation Hengaw, the two prisoners were secretly executed without prior notification to their families and were denied the right to a final visit before their executions.

No official announcement

Annual report on executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistical Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, between March 2025 and March 2026, at least 2,616 individuals were executed in Iran. Of these, 12 executions were carried out in public. The executed individuals included 67 women and 8 juvenile offenders.
