Alireza Nami, Detainee from the January Protests, Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison

Breathing in Confinement, Monday, 21 September 2026: Alireza Nami, who was detained in connection with the January protests, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari. The sentence was recently communicated to him in Greater Tehran Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, published information indicates that Nami was accused of “conducting operations for Israel,” which formed the basis for his 30-year prison sentence. No further information is available regarding the evidence or legal grounds supporting the charge.
Following notification of the verdict, Alireza Nami appealed the sentence, and his case has entered the next stage of legal proceedings.
