Breathing in Confinement – Masoumeh Shahnavaz, a retired teacher, was arrested by Intelligence Ministry agents at her home in Sabzevar. She was reportedly beaten during the arrest and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Ms. Shahnavaz, a retired education worker, was violently arrested after her home was raided by agents of the Intelligence Ministry in Sabzevar. Her arrest was reportedly linked to her reaction to recent Israeli airstrikes. Her home was searched, some of her personal belongings were confiscated, and she was taken to an unknown location.

Shahram Sadsedi, Ms. Shahnavaz’s son, shared the news of her arrest, stating that she was beaten and arrested at her private residence by Intelligence Ministry agents. He also reported that during the raid, agents searched the home, broke household items, and confiscated some of her personal possessions.

He added, “If today Israel has killed IRGC commanders and people are happy about it, it is not the fault of my elderly mother. Just look at the result of your actions over the past forty-some years to understand why people feel this way.” He went on to say that the Intelligence Ministry and the judicial authorities in Sabzevar are responsible for his mother’s safety. He expressed serious concern for her well-being, noting that she has undergone two heart surgeries and is in a high-risk condition.
