Breathing in Confinement – The death sentence of at least one prisoner convicted of murder was carried out at the Central Prison of Semnan.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, one prisoner was executed by hanging at dawn on Wednesday, 23 July 2025, in Semnan Prison. The identity of the prisoner has been confirmed as Rola Arab.

Rola Arab, a 30-year-old woman from Semnan, had previously been arrested on charges of murder and sentenced to death by the Criminal Court of Semnan Province. She was transferred to solitary confinement on Tuesday in preparation for the execution and had her final visit with her family. The sentence was carried out early Wednesday morning, 23 July 2025, in Semnan Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
