Parisa Kamali Abruptly Transferred from Yazd Prison to Bandar Abbas Without Family Notification

Breathing in Confinement, Friday, 11 September 2026: Parisa Kamali, a political prisoner held in Yazd Central Prison, was removed from her ward on the evening of Tuesday, 8 September and transferred to Bandar Abbas Prison without prior notice. The transfer took place while she had already been facing medical problems, restrictions on contact with her family, and security-related pressure.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, officials at Yazd Central Prison summoned Parisa Kamali from her ward on Tuesday, 8 September without prior notice and, after completing the transfer procedures, moved her to Bandar Abbas Prison. Her family had not been informed of the authorities’ decision before the transfer.
According to information received, Ms Kamali was taken out of Yazd Prison that evening and transferred to Bandar Abbas Prison. The transfer took place while she had been experiencing medical problems during her imprisonment and had previously faced restrictions on telephone calls and communication with her family. She had also been summoned to court following the release of a protest message from inside the prison.
The sudden transfer of a political prisoner without prior notification to their family can make it difficult for relatives to obtain information about the prisoner’s condition and whereabouts. A change in the place of detention may also affect access to in-person visits, telephone calls, medical services, and communication with family and legal counsel. This is particularly significant in the case of prisoners with existing physical or medical conditions.
Hunger Strike in Protest at the Handling of Her Cases
In December 2025, Parisa Kamali went on hunger strike in Yazd Prison in protest at the authorities’ failure to address her request for the consolidation of her judicial cases. After approximately two weeks, and following assurances from officials that her demands would be addressed, she ended her hunger strike.
The political prisoner had previously been transferred from Dowlatabad Prison in Isfahan to Yazd Central Prison in 2025.
Arrest and Judicial Background
Parisa Kamali was arrested in Isfahan on 30 April 2025 and subsequently transferred to Dowlatabad Prison in the city.
According to available reports, Branch One of the Isfahan Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Tavakoli, sentenced her to two years of internal exile on the charge of “destruction of public property” and to a total of seven years and nine months’ imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the state” and “membership in opposition groups”.
According to available information, Parisa Kamali Ardakani has three judicial cases: two in Ardakan County and one in Isfahan Province.

Health Condition
Parisa Kamali Ardakani, born on 26 March 1986, is from Abadan, is married, and is a geography student. She suffers from toxic thyroid disease. Given her history of medical problems, her access to appropriate medical care in Bandar Abbas Prison requires close attention and follow-up.
The political prisoner was transferred without prior notification to her family, while no clear details have yet been released regarding the reason for the transfer or her access to medical services, visits, and communication with her family following her transfer to Bandar Abbas Prison.
