Breathing in Confinement – Ali Parvin, a student of pharmacy at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, was arrested this morning in Tabriz.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Ali Parvin, a pharmacy student at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences and Secretary of the Political Committee of the Islamic Students Association, was arrested by security forces in Tabriz on Monday, 16 February 2026.
As of the time of this report, no information has been released regarding the arresting authority, his place of detention, or the official reasons for his arrest. Efforts by his family and close contacts to obtain information about his condition and whereabouts are ongoing.
According to previous reports, Mr Parvin had earlier been arrested on charges of “spreading false information” due to the publication of critical content on social media during the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel. Details of that case and the judicial proceedings were not publicly disclosed.
In addition, in March 2023, following his اعتراض to the series of poisonings at girls’ schools, he was sentenced by the university disciplinary committee to three semesters of suspension from education and forced academic exile to the city of Ardabil.
