Breathing in Confinement: Peyman Ganji, a political prisoner and one of those arrested during the nationwide protests in January, has been sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Tehran on charges of moharebeh (“enmity against God”).
According to reporters of Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Peyman Ganji, who is currently being held in Greater Tehran Prison, was tried by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, and sentenced to death on charges of moharebeh.
According to the report, following the submission of an appeal, the case of the 33-year-old prisoner has been referred to Branch 9 of the Supreme Court for final review.
Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi, Mr Ganji’s defence lawyer, stated that the charge brought against his client is based primarily on allegations of “setting public property on fire,” which has been cited in the case as one of the acts constituting the alleged offence.
