Breathing in Confinement – Abbas Lesani, political prisoner in Adel Abad prison in Shiraz, has written a letter to oppose the security forces’ pressures on his family.

According to the report of “Breathing in Confinement”, as the pressure on the family of this Azerbaijani civil activist increases, he wrote a letter saying that he would not “stay silent” towards these pressures and if any problems would be made for his freedom on May 18, he would go on “hunger strike”.

It is to say that, Mrs. Roghaieh Alizadeh, Abbas Lesani’s wife had been summoned at least two times in February and March to the Revolutionary Court in Ardabil. Also last April she was admitted in a hospital in Ardabil because of the risk of stroke.

Abbas Lesani, a civil activist who had not attended 3 court hearings due to lack of compliance with Article 168 of the constitution regarding the public trials was sentenced to one year imprisonment by the Branch one of the Revolutionary Court in Ardebil, presided by Judge Asadpour on April 25, 2015.

He was arrested in Ardabil following the protests against the drying of Urmia Lake, in September 2011, on charges of propaganda against the regime and formation of a group to disturb national security. After 55 days of detention at the Intelligence Service in Ardebil, he was released on a bail of 100 million IRR, on November 5, 2011.

Prisoners
