Latif Hasani in dangerous condition on day 50 of hunger strike

Breathing in Confinement – Latif Hasani, Azerbaijani political prisoner who is on hunger strike since 50 days ago, is in very dangerous health condition.

According to the report of “Breathing in Confinement”, the imprisoned member of “Yani Gamouh” who went on hunger strike since 18th April in protest at violation of the principal of separating prisoners on the basis of kind of crimes in and political prisoners rights of to be transferred to their home city, is in a dangerous health condition.

Regarding his last status, his wife, Azam Piri, told “Breathing in Confinement” reporter: “Yesterday, in a 20 minutes “Closed Visit” with my husband, I did not recognise him at once. He was so sick and weak that seemed to me like only his bones had remained. He has even lost his ability to stand up.”

Mrs. Piri also added: “Latif Hasani had a powerful spirit, although he could barely speak. He emphasised that he will continue hunger strike until they transfer him to political prisoners’ ward.”

Amnesty international in an Urgent Action statement on 4th of July called for immediate and unconditional release for Latif Hasani.

Latif Hasani was sentenced by Tabriz Revolutionary Court to 9 years imprisonment with accusation of establishing an illegal group and propaganda against Regime.
