Breathing in Confinement, January 24, 2021: The agents of Prosecutor’s Office in Konarak, along with law enforcement officers, demolished the cottages in Zarabad, where flood-stricken people were living. The agent also arrested three citizens who tried to prevent this.

According to Baloch activists’ campaign, on the morning of January 23, 2021, in the cold of winter, the agents of prosecutor’s office in Konarak, along with law enforcement officers, bulldozered the cottages of flood-stricken people in Johlu district of Zarabad town in Konarak. They beat and arrested three baloach citizens who tied to stop them.

The arrested citizens, named “Ayub and Amin Eidoozehi” and “Islam Rashidinejad,” were severely injured in the limbs after being beaten by security agents. They were later released through the mediation of Elders and Trustees.

These Baloch citizens lost their homes in the floods of last year, when their village called Shahrdar was completely destroyed. And since then no action has been taken to support them. As a result, unsheltered residents themselves built sheds and cottages, which were demolished by the agents of prosecutor’s office.

The Konarak prosecutor’s office stated that the reason for the destruction was that the cottages had been built in public lands.
