Breathing in Confinement: The death sentence of at least one prisoner, who had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on drug-related charges, was carried out in Mashhad Prison.
According to reporters of Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged in Mashhad Prison in the early hours of Thursday, 28 May 2026. The prisoner’s identity has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement as Mohammad Ebrahimi.
According to the report, Mohammad Ebrahimi, a resident of Mashhad, had been arrested four years earlier on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death. According to a source close to the case, the allegations against him stemmed from a conspiracy in which drugs were allegedly planted without his knowledge at a location connected to him, after which the matter was reported to the relevant authorities. The sentence was carried out in the early hours of Thursday, 28 May 2026, in Mashhad Prison.
