In the early hours of Monday, 19 May 2025, the execution of at least one prisoner previously convicted of “murder” was carried out in Damghan Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the execution took place at dawn on Monday, 19 May. The identity of the executed prisoner has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement as Ali Asghar Alami.
The report states that Ali Asghar Alami, son of Ahmad and a native of Damghan, had been arrested 13 years ago on charges of murder and was sentenced to death. Despite all efforts, the victim’s family refused to grant forgiveness and the sentence was carried out on the morning of Monday, 19 May, in Damghan Prison.
