Breathing in Confinement – In the early hours of Tuesday, 10 June 2025, the death sentence of at least one prisoner previously convicted of “murder” was carried out in Arak Central Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged at dawn on Tuesday in Arak Central Prison. The identity of the executed individual has been confirmed as Ali Rezaei.

According to the report, Ali Rezaei, aged 33, son of Mohammad, married and father to a six-year-old daughter, had unintentionally killed a man during a conflict five years ago. The victim’s family demanded 50 billion tomans in exchange for granting clemency. Despite numerous efforts, the sum could not be raised, and the sentence was carried out at dawn on 10 June 2025 in Arak Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran

According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
