At Least 21 Prisoners Executed During Recent 3 Days

Breathing in Confinement – During the last 3 days, at least 21 prisoners have been executed in different prisons in Iran. At least one death sentence for a woman, and also, one public execution have been carried out.
According to the report of “Breathing in Confinement”, a retaliation death sentence was carried out and a prisoner, named Mehdi, was executed in Tabriz Central Prison, on Tuesday 5th January.
Meanwhile, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network has reported the news of 3 other prisoners’ executions in this prison, on Wednesday. The identity of the prisoners have been announced as; Tofigh Mohammadfard from the city of Sardasht, from ward 12, Hossein Zadegan Eskandar from Tabriz, from ward 15, Amir Ali Zadegan Eskandar (nephew of Hossein) from Tabriz, from ward 7 and Zahra Nemati (wife of Amir Ali) from Tabriz, from women’s ward all of whom had been sentenced to death for drug-related charges.
On the same day the public and Revolutionary prosecutor of Nazarabad, Mohammad Ghaiyoomi, announced the execution of three prisoners who had been sentenced to death for drug-related charges in Nazarabad city.
Following the wave of executions, 5 prisoners were hanged in the Rajai Shahr prison, in Karaj, on Wednesday.
HRANA has announced the identity of these prisoners as; Mahmoud Nadirnejad, Mehdi Sadeghi, Sadegh Heydari, Hamid Khodabandehloo, and Maghsoud Mahdizadeh and they were charged with murder.
Also, 3 prisoners were hanged in Ardebil prison in the morning of Thursday 7th of January.
Public relations and communications office of Ardabil Province Judiciary has announced that they were charged with drug dealing.
According to another report by HRANA, on the same day, three other prisoners in the central prison of Urmia (Darya) were executed by hanging.
These prisoners were; Farhang Harvian, Haji Divari Badri and Hamid Ghanbari and were charged with drug-related crimes.
This source also reported the execution of at least one prisoner in the central prison of Hamedan on the morning of Wednesday, 6th January. The prisoner’s name was Mohammad Jamali Fashi and was sentenced to death for drug-related charges.
The report added at the end, that the number of executions in Hamadan has been more than 1 but the exact number is not known, yet.
On the other hand, a 25-year-old man, who had been charged with first-degree murder and sentenced to death, was executed in public in Shabestar.
According to “Tabnak”, in the morning of Thursday, 7th January, a 25-year-old man was executed in vegetables market place in Shabestar on charge of the murder of a woman. He had been sentenced to death in July 2012.
Unofficial reports indicate that the person, who was executed, was “Reza Jalili Alishahi”.
