Breathing in Confinement – The death sentences of at least four prisoners who had been arrested on charges related to “narcotics” and “murder” were carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at dawn on Wednesday, 24 September 2025, four prisoners were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison. The identities of the prisoners — Meysam Karimi, Ahmadreza Garavand, Farshad Garavand, and Amir — have been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement. The outlet had previously reported the transfer of 15 prisoners to solitary confinement in Ghezel Hesar for execution; the status of the remaining prisoners is under review.
Meysam Karimi, from Kuhdasht, had previously been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death. Ahmadreza Garavand, from Kuhdasht, Farshad Garavand, from Sartorahan, Kuhdasht, and Amir had previously been arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death. Their sentences were carried out at dawn on Wednesday, 24 September 2025, in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
