Confirmation of Identity of Second Executed Prisoner in Amol Prison

Breathing in Confinement – At dawn on Saturday, March 1, 2025, the execution of at least two prisoners convicted of “murder” was carried out in Aghouzin Prison in Amol. Previously, Breathing in Confinement had reported the execution of one prisoner in this facility.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, two prisoners were executed in Amol Prison early Saturday morning, March 1. Their identities have been confirmed as Jalal Shahsavar and Arsalan Pasha.

Reports received by Breathing in Confinement indicate that Jalal Shahsavar, a resident of Amol, was arrested in 2021 on charges of murder and sentenced to death. The execution of Arsalan Pasha, also convicted of murder, had been previously reported by Breathing in Confinement. The death sentences of both prisoners were carried out at dawn on Saturday, March 1, in Amol Central Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran

According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 848 citizens were executed in 2023. Of these, 7 were executed in public. 57 percent of the executions were for drug related charges.
