Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Tuesday, November 6, 2024, the death sentence of a prisoner convicted of murder was carried out in Jiroft Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, the prisoner, identified as Aref Kamali, was a 33-year-old resident of Delfard, Jiroft. Based on received information, Kamali was arrested approximately seven years ago on murder charges and was subsequently sentenced to death. Last month, the execution was postponed to allow time to seek the victim’s family’s consent for clemency, but these efforts were unsuccessful, and his sentence was finally carried out at dawn on Tuesday.
