Breathing in Confinement – The death sentence of at least one prisoner, who had been arrested and sentenced to death for the charge of “murder”, was carried out in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, in the early hours of Sunday, 27 July 2025, a prisoner was hanged in the Central Prison of Isfahan. The identity of the individual, Reza Mir Foroughi, has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement. The outlet had previously reported his transfer to solitary confinement ahead of the execution.
Reza Mir Foroughi, a resident of Isfahan, had earlier been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death. He was transferred to solitary confinement on Friday, 25 July, in preparation for the execution. According to received reports, attempts to obtain consent for a pardon from the victim’s family were unsuccessful, and the execution was ultimately carried out at dawn on Sunday, 27 July 2025, in the Central Prison of Isfahan.
