Breathing in Confinement: The death sentence of at least one prisoner, who had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on charges of murder, was carried out in Ahvaz Prison.

According to reporters from Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged in Ahvaz Prison in the early hours of Sunday, 14 June. The prisoner’s identity has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement as Seyed Adnan Mousavi.

According to the report, Seyed Adnan Mousavi (also known as Abu Hassan), a resident of Ramshir, had been arrested three years ago on charges of murder following a physical altercation and was subsequently sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary. His sentence was carried out in the early hours of Sunday, 14 June 2026, in Ahvaz Prison.

Annual report on executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistical Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, between March 2025 and March 2026, at least 2,616 individuals were executed in Iran. Of these, 12 executions were carried out in public. The executed individuals included 67 women and 8 juvenile offenders.
