Breathing in Confinement: The death sentence of at least one prisoner, who had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on charges related to drug offences, has been carried out in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, in the early hours of Monday, 4 May 2026, a prisoner was hanged in Isfahan Prison. The identity of the prisoner has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement as Reza Padram.

According to the report, Reza (Khosrow) Padram, a resident of Junqan, was arrested six years ago on charges related to drug offences and was subsequently sentenced to death. According to an informed source, he openly expressed support for popular protests while in prison. The same source stated that, as a result, he had been accused by the authorities of opposing the political system. The death sentence was carried out in the early hours of Monday, 4 May 2026, in Isfahan Prison.

Annual report on executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistical Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, between March 2025 and March 2026, at least 2,616 individuals were executed in Iran. Of these, 12 executions were carried out in public. The executed individuals included 67 women and 8 juvenile offenders.
