Breathing in Confinement – The death sentence of at least one prisoner who had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to execution has been carried out in Dorud Prison.
According to information received by reporters from Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, in the early hours of Sunday, 15 February 2026, a prisoner was hanged at Dorud Prison in Lorestan Province. The identity of the prisoner has been verified by Breathing in Confinement as Reza Karami.
Reza Karami, son of Abbas and a resident of Dorud, had been arrested two years ago on charges of “murder” in connection with the unintentional killing of an individual named Fariborz Taghizadeh, and was subsequently sentenced to death. Initially, the victim’s family had expressed conditional consent to grant forgiveness in exchange for a payment of 8 billion tomans. This amount was raised with the assistance of members of the public and charitable donors. However, the victim’s family ultimately declined to grant forgiveness, and the death sentence was carried out in the early morning hours of Sunday, 15 February 2026, at Dorud Prison.
