Execution of a prisoner in Mahabad prison

Breathing in Confinement: On the morning of December, 7, 2020, a young prisoner who had previously been sentenced to death on charge of murder, was hanged in Mahabad Prison.
According to the Young Journalists Club, quoting Aslan Heydari, the Public Prosecutor of the City of Mahabad, one of the accused in the murder of Sadegh Barmaki was executed this morning, December 7, 2020.
As per the report, the death sentence of the other accused in this case will be implemented soon.
Four people have involved in this case. In June 2019, in the court of first instance, three of them named Kamal Asghari, Danial Diwani Azar, and Danial Zein al-Abedin, were sentenced to death and the fourth one was sentenced to ten years in prison.
Danial Zein al-Abedin, who when arrested, was only 17 years old, died in Miandoab Prison in April 2020.
According to the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, over the last one year (October 2019 to October 2020), at least 270 prisoners were executed in the prisons in Iran.
