Breathing in Confinement: At least one prisoner who had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death by the judiciary was executed in Maku Prison.
According to reporters from Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged in Maku Prison in the early hours of Wednesday, 10 June. The prisoner has been identified by Breathing in Confinement as Zakaria Khazarnejad.
According to the report, Zakaria Khazarnejad, a native of Maku, had previously been arrested on murder charges and sentenced to death. Efforts to obtain the victim’s family’s forgiveness were unsuccessful, and the sentence was ultimately carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, 10 June 2026, in Maku Prison.
