Breathing in Confinement: The death sentence of at least one prisoner, who had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death, was carried out in Sanandaj Prison.
According to reporters from Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged in Sanandaj Prison in the early hours of Monday, 15 June. The prisoner’s identity has been verified by Breathing in Confinement as Aram Zarei.
According to the report, Aram Zarei had previously been arrested for the murder of his wife and was sentenced to death by the judiciary. Following the killing of his wife, Aida Heydarian, he reportedly attempted suicide. The sentence was carried out in the early hours of Monday, 15 June 2026, in Sanandaj Prison.
