Breathing in Confinement: The death sentence of a prisoner, who had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on charges related to “drug offences”, has been carried out in Torbat-e Heydarieh Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, in the early hours of Saturday, 16 May 2026, the execution of a prisoner was carried out in Torbat-e Heydarieh Prison. The identity of the prisoner has been confirmed as Ebrahim Farhadi Topkanlou.
According to the report, Ebrahim Farhadi Topkanlou, aged 48, father of three, resident of Sabzevar, had been arrested approximately four years ago on charges related to “drug offences” and was sentenced to death by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Sabzevar, presided over by Judge Mohammad Gholami.
According to the information received, despite the fact that his case was still under appeal review, his death sentence was carried out on the above-mentioned date in Torbat-e Heydarieh Prison. The execution took place despite the absence of transparent information confirming the completion of judicial proceedings and the finalisation of the sentence.
