At dawn on Tuesday, 20 May 2025, the death sentence of at least one prisoner convicted of “murder” was carried out in Ilam Central Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was executed in Ilam Prison early Tuesday morning. The prisoner has been identified as Adnan Labakpour.
According to the report, Adnan Labakpour, a resident of Ilam Province, was arrested five years ago on charges of murder and sentenced to death. His execution was carried out at dawn on Tuesday, 20 May, in Ilam Central Prison. It is worth noting that on Sunday, Breathing in Confinement had reported his transfer to solitary confinement in preparation for the execution.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
