Breathing in Confinement – The death sentence of at least one prisoner who had been arrested on charges related to “drug offences” and sentenced to death was carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on the morning of Wednesday, 17 September 2025, a prisoner was hanged in Ghezel Hesar Prison. The identity of this prisoner, “Ali Esmaeili,” has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement. He was among the nine prisoners transferred to solitary confinement on Sunday in preparation for execution.
Ali Esmaeili, from Nurabad, had previously been arrested on charges related to “drug offences” and sentenced to death. The sentence was carried out at dawn on Wednesday, 17 September 2025, in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
