Execution of at least 11 prisoners, including 2 women and one juvenile offender in one day

Breathing in Confinement: On May 18, 2024, at least 11 prisoners including 2 women were executed on charges related to drug offenses and murder in the prisons of Urmia, Salmas, Neishabour, and Miandoab.
According to “Breathing in Confinement,” the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 11 prisoners were hanged at various prisons in Iran at dawn on May 18, 2024. Among the executed were two women prisoners.
According to this report, Fatemeh Abdollahi was executed in Neishabour prison, and Parvin Mousavi, who had cancer, was executed in Urmia prison.
According to the statistics center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 10 women prisoners have been executed since late March 2024. Fatemeh Abdollahi, 27, was accused of murdering her husband, and Parvin Mousavi from Maragheh was arrested and sentenced to death for drug-related offenses.
In Urmia prison, along with Parvin Mousavi, five other prisoners named Yousef Saeedi, Ramin Lovandpoor, Parviz Ghasemi, Mansour Naseri, and another prisoner named Jebeli were executed. These prisoners had previously been arrested and sentenced to death for “drug-related offenses.”
Additionally, according to received reports, three other prisoners were executed for “drug-related offenses” in Salmas prison. Two of these executed prisoners have been identified as Asghar Hajizadeh and Kaveh Bashganeh.
Another prisoner named Ramin Saadat, who was under 18 at the time of his arrest, was also executed in Miandoab prison.
According to the annual report of the statistics center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 848 citizens were executed last year. Out of this number, the sentences of 7 individuals were carried out in public. 57 percent of the executions were for “drug-related offenses.”
