According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 9 prisoners, accused of “murder” and drug-related charges, were executed at dawn on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj.
The identities of the prisoners include Iraj Ahadi, Ahmad Alizadeh, Saman Bozorgi, an unidentified woman, Mohsen Moradi, Jafar Rastgar, Hamzeh Torkashvand, Khaled Tajik (an Afghan national), and Jafar Rahsepar.
Iraj Ahadi, Mohsen Moradi, Ahmad Alizadeh, Saman Bozorgi, and a female prisoner had been arrested on charges of “murder” and were sentenced to death. Iraj Ahadi had been in detention under a death sentence for the past 8 years.
Ahmad Alizadeh’s execution was carried out for the second time, despite initial consent from the victim’s family to halt the execution during the first attempt two months ago.
