Execution of Five Prisoners in Rasht Prison

Breathing in Confinement – The death sentences of at least five prisoners previously arrested on charges related to “drug offences” and “murder” were carried out in Rasht Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, and based on information from local sources, five prisoners were executed in Rasht Prison on Saturday, 25 October; Sunday, 26 October; Wednesday, 26 November; and in the early hours of Wednesday, 3 December 2025. The identities of the executed prisoners have been confirmed as Mehdi Javanmardi, Amir Nazari, Hamed Hanifeh, Ali Sayeh-Afkan, and Mehrdad Pourhossein.
Mehdi Javanmardi had previously been arrested on a charge of “murder” and sentenced to death. His execution was carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, 3 December, in Rasht Prison.
Amir Nazari, arrested earlier on drug-related charges and sentenced to death, was executed on Saturday, 25 October, in Rasht Prison.
Hamed Hanifeh, also arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death, was executed on Sunday, 26 October, in Rasht Prison.
Ali Sayeh-Afkan and Mehrdad Pourhossein, both previously arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death, were executed on Wednesday, 26 November, in Rasht Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
