Breathing in Confinement – The death sentences of at least four prisoners previously convicted of “murder” were carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at dawn on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, four prisoners were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison. The identities of three of them — Ali Heydari, Soroush Haghpanah, and Ali Kazemian — have been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement. The identity of the fourth prisoner is still being verified.

Ali Heydari, approximately 28 years old and a resident of Tehran, had been arrested during an altercation and sentenced to death on a charge of murder. His family had offered 15 billion tomans to obtain the victim’s family’s consent, but the complainant refused, and the sentence was carried out at dawn on Wednesday. He had been transferred to solitary confinement on 8 November.

Soroush Haghpanah and Ali Kazemian had also been arrested in separate cases on charges of murder and sentenced to death. Their sentences were likewise carried out at dawn on 12 November 2025 in Ghezel Hesar Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran

According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
