At dawn on Monday, 12 May 2025, the death sentence of at least one prisoner convicted of “murder” was carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was executed in the early hours of Monday, 12 May, in Ghezel Hesar Prison. The individual has been identified as Mehran Nasri Zar by Breathing in Confinement.
According to the report, Mehran Nasri Zar, a 30-year-old from Sanandaj and the son of Yadollah, had been arrested three years ago on charges of murder and sentenced to death. His execution was carried out secretly without informing his family and without granting the right to a final visit. The sentence was enforced at dawn on Monday, 12 May, in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
