Breathing in Confinement – The death sentence of at least one prisoner previously arrested on charges related to “drug offences” and sentenced to execution has been carried out in Rasht Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at dawn on Wednesday, December 10 2025, a prisoner was hanged in Rasht Prison. The identity of this prisoner, Mehrdad Mirzaei, has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement.
Mehrdad Mirzaei, a resident of Chaparpard Zaman village, had previously been arrested on charges related to “drug offences” and sentenced to death. In recent days, his family had submitted new evidence supporting his innocence and requested a halt to the execution, but the sentence was nevertheless carried out at dawn on Wednesday, December 10 2025, in Rasht Prison.
