Breathing in Confinement: The death sentence of at least one prisoner, who had previously been arrested on charges related to drug offences and sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary, has been carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
According to reporters from Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged in the early hours of Monday, 8 June, in Ghezel Hesar Prison. The prisoner’s identity has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement as Namdar Bagheri.
According to the report, Namdar Bagheri, a resident of the village of Ali Baqar Galianeh in Firuzabad County, Kermanshah Province, had been arrested 12 years ago on charges related to drug offences and was subsequently sentenced to death. The sentence was carried out in the early hours of Monday, 8 June 2026, in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
