Breathing in Confinement: The death sentence of a prisoner has been carried out in Isfahan Central Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, in the early hours of Saturday, 2 May 2026, a prisoner was hanged in Isfahan Prison. The identity of the prisoner has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement as Peyman Mohammadi.

According to the report, Peyman Mohammadi had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” of an individual named Mohammad Fakhr al-Din and was sentenced to death by the judiciary. The sentence was carried out in the early hours of Saturday, 2 May 2026, in Isfahan Prison.

Annual report on executions in Iran
According to the annual report of the Statistical Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, between March 2025 and March 2026, at least 2,616 individuals were executed in Iran. Of these, 12 executions were carried out in public. The executed individuals included 67 women and 8 juvenile offenders.
