At dawn on Tuesday, 27 May 2025, the death sentence of at least one prisoner who had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on drug-related charges was carried out at Karaj Central Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was executed at Karaj Central Prison early this morning. The organisation has confirmed the identity of the prisoner as Rahim Amiri.
According to the report, Rahim Amiri, a native of Nourabad and resident of Harsin, was arrested five years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death. His execution was carried out at dawn on Tuesday, 27 May 2025, at Karaj Central Prison. The previous report had mistakenly stated Ghezel Hesar Prison as the location of the execution.
