Breathing in Confinement – The execution of at least one prisoner who had been arrested on charges related to “drug offences” and sentenced to death was carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at dawn on Thursday, 4 September 2025, a prisoner was hanged in Ghezel Hesar Prison. The identity of this prisoner, Reza Aghajani, has been verified by Breathing in Confinement.
Reza Aghajani, a resident of Tehran, had previously been arrested on drug-related charges, accused of carrying 5 kilograms of methamphetamine (shisheh), and sentenced to death. The sentence was carried out at dawn on Thursday, 4 September 2025, in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
