At dawn on Monday, May 12, 2025, the death sentence of at least one prisoner, who had been arrested and convicted on charges of murder, was carried out in Amirabad Prison in Gorgan.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was executed early this morning, Monday, in Gorgan Prison. His identity, Safa Ghareh-Dashli, has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement.

According to the report, Safa Ghareh-Dashli, approximately 25 years old and a resident of Aqqola, had previously been arrested and sentenced to death for the alleged murder of a former friend named Matin during a conflict. Efforts to obtain a pardon from the victim’s family were unsuccessful, and the execution was ultimately carried out this morning, Monday, May 12, 2025, in Amirabad Prison, Gorgan.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
