Breathing in Confinement – The death sentences of at least two prisoners convicted of “murder” were carried out at Yasuj Central Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, in the early hours of Saturday, 2 August 2025, two prisoners were executed in Yasuj Prison. Their identities have been confirmed as Sajad Zare (Ghashtasb) and Fouad Azar (Arab).

Both 35 years old and from Charam, located in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, Sajad Zare and Fouad Azar had previously been arrested and sentenced to death in a joint case on charges of murder. The day before their execution, the two were transferred to solitary confinement for the implementation of their sentences and were granted their final visit.

The executions were carried out at dawn on Saturday, 2 August 2025, in Yasuj Central Prison.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran

According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
