Breathing in Confinement – At dawn on Wednesday, 9 April 2025, the death sentence of at least one prisoner convicted of murder was carried out at Tabriz Prison.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner was hanged at Tabriz Prison in the early hours of Wednesday, 9 April 2025. The executed individual has been identified as Seifollah Nasiri.

According to the report, Seifollah Nasiri, son of Nasir, married, and a native of Hargalan village in Ajabshir County, was arrested four years ago in connection with a group altercation that led to a murder charge. The victim, according to the official forensic report, died from a gunshot wound. However, witnesses stated that neither Seifollah nor his brother was armed and that the fatal shot was fired from the victim’s own weapon. Despite this and concerns about an opaque judicial process and alleged influence from opposing parties, Seifollah Nasiri was sentenced to death. His sentence was carried out at dawn on Wednesday, 9 April 2025, in Tabriz Prison.
