Breathing in Confinement – The death sentences of at least three prisoners convicted of drug-related offences were carried out in the Central Prison of Isfahan.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at dawn on 6 August 2025, three individuals were hanged in Isfahan Central Prison. Their identities have been confirmed as Mojtaba Izadi, Reza Sharifzadeh,and Ali Rajaei. The outlet had previously reported their transfer to solitary confinement on Monday, 4 August, in preparation for the executions.

Mojtaba Izadi, 35, and Reza Sharifzadeh, 35, both from Garmaseh, Falavarjan, and Ali Rajaei, approximately 33 years old from Kelishad, Falavarjan, had been arrested on charges related to drug offences and sentenced to death. The executions were carried out at dawn on Wednesday, 6 August 2025, in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran

According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
